PATtest4U™ are specialists in the field of Portable Appliance Testing and always use The Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) suggested initial frequency of inspection and testing of equipment, as published in their Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
The information on the suggested initial frequencies given below is more detailed and specific that the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidance, but is not considered to be inconsistent with it.

The following are the special notes associated with the suggested initial frequency of inspection and testing of equipment displayed above.
User checks are not recorded unless a fault is found.
The formal visual inspection may form part of the combined inspection and tests when they coincide, and must be recorded.
If the CLASS of the equipment is not known then it must be tested as CLASS I.
The results of combined inspections and tests are recorded.
For some equipment such as children's rides a daily check may be necessary.

110 V earthed centre tapped supply. 230 V portable or hand-held equipment must be supplied via a 30 mA RCD and inspections and tests carried out more frequently.
